Being HeadQuarterd on the East Coast of Africa makes it hard to hide from the ocean when its right on your doorstep and when you love the water, you want to know what lies beneath the surface.
Our company recently took part in the Ocean Science Explorer learning experience by OrcaNation, which was an integral part of our team building efforts. The program was designed to educate and inspire us about the importance of ocean conservation and marine biology through hands-on activities and learning experiences. Throughout the program, we were able to explore the diverse and wildlife in our oceans and learn about our connection to water.

We were introduced to the wild, unusual, and diverse life in our oceans by finding out how all human beings are connected to the water through Oceans and Coral Reefs, Mangrove Ecology, Orcas and Sharks: their Biology and Ecology, Marine Microplastics and Ghost Gear.
We began the program by diving into the basics of oceanography, learning about the different regions of the ocean and the unique characteristics of each.
We also studied the various forms of marine life, including fish, mammals, and invertebrates, and the importance of biodiversity in the ocean.

One of the most impactful parts of the program for our team was the vr~ experiences that allowed us to explore and learn about different marine environments. We were able to dive into the depths of the ocean, swim with dolphins and whales, and witness the destruction of coral reefs caused by human activity. These experiences gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation for the ocean and the need for conservation efforts.
One of the highlights of the experience was the whale watching excursion, where we were able to see and learn about different species of orcas, whales and dolphins in their natural habitats. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and was able to answer all of our questions.

We also had the opportunity to hear from marine biologists and conservationists who shared their experiences and the challenges they face in their work.
It was inspiring to hear about the progress that is being made in ocean conservation and the ways in which individuals and organizations can make a difference.
We also learned about our impact as a company on the ocean and how we can be more sustainable in our operations. We have started implementing changes such as reducing the use of single-use plastics, recycling and promoting telecommuting to reduce CO2 emissions. It was also a great opportunity for us as a team to come together to support a common cause.

The team building aspect of the experience was evident throughout the plan, as we worked together to complete the various tasks and activities. These activities required collaboration, problem-solving and creativity, and it was great to see how everyone’s strengths were utilized in the different tasks.
Overall, the Ocean Science Explorer learning experience was an enriching and educational experience for our team. We gained a deeper understanding of the ocean and its inhabitants, the importance of conservation efforts, and the role we can play as individuals and as a company. It was an excellent opportunity for our team to come together to support a common cause and develop skills that will be beneficial for our company’s growth.
We highly recommend the Ocean Science Explorer learning experience by OrcaNation for any team looking to improve their knowledge about the ocean and marine conservation, and to improve teamwork and problem-solving skills while having a positive impact on the environment.
